Introduction of fashion
Fashion is a term used interchangeably to describe the creation of clothing, footwear, accessories, cosmetics, and
jewelers of different cultural aesthetics and their mix and match into outfits that depict distinctive ways of dressing
namely styles & trends as signifiers of social status, self-expression, and group belonging. As a multifaceted term,
fashion describes an industry, styles, aesthetics, and trends. (Fig 1)

Definition of fashion
Fashion is a form of self-expression and autonomy at a particular period & place and in a specific context, of
clothing, footwear, lifestyle, accessories, makeup, hairstyle and body posture.
The term fashion describes the manufacturing, mixing and wearing of outfits adorned with specific cultural
aesthetics, patterns, motifs, shapes, and cuts, allowing people to showcase their group belonging, values,
meanings, beliefs, and ways of life.
Classification of fashion
The major categories which define fashion are as below:
1 Style
2 Basic or classic
3 FAD
4 Fashion forecasting
5 Fashion trends
