Removing, cleaning and assembling of inlet filter (for a

closed type of reservoir with removable top cover)

Objectives:At the end of this exercise you shall be able to
• dismantle, clean and assemble inlet tilter.

Inlet filter is normally called as suction strainer. Unscrew the inlet cartridge (Fig 1), wipe at the excess sludge col-
lected on the filter.
Soak it in kerosene and remove the studge.
Flush the strainer with clean kerosene (Fig 2).

Blow compressed air on the mesh area.
Clean the mounting area of the strainer.The job should not be rotated by power.
Screw the strainer back in its location. (Fig 3)
