National Instructional Media Institute (NIMI) is a Premier Institution
established in December 1986, by the Government of India. Formerly it
was known as the Central Instructional Media Institute (CIMI) and it was
functioning as a Subordinate Office under Directorate General of
Employment and Training (DGE&T), Ministry of Labour & Employment with
the assistance of Federal Republic of Germany through GTZ (German
Agency for Technical Co-Operation) as the executing agency.
NIMI functioning as an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Skill
Development & Entrepreneurship, Directorate General of Training, New
Delhi. This institute is dedicated to developing high-quality instructional
material for vocational education in the skill ecosystem.
NIMI serves as a nodal agency for providing content and Instructional
materials for vocational education.
Regional Language Books of NIMI launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on
July - 29 -2023, in New Delhi during the celebration of the Third Anniversary of the NEP - 2020
It caters to the needs of a wide range of Institutes, particularly Industrial
Training Institutes (ITIs) and other Skill Development Institutes. The
Institute aims to achieve Global Benchmarks in Vocational Education
and Training systems. Collaborating with Vocational Stakeholders for
promoting research in instructional material development to make a
global impact in Skill India Mission.
