EXERCISE 76 : Install an alternator and identify various
parts and terminals of the same
Objectives
At the end of this exercise you shall be able to:
• identify the prime mover and alternator mounting requirements
• identify terminals of alternator
• wire up the alternator and prime mover to a panel.

• Heavy duty screw driver 250mm -1 No. • Meggar 500v -1 No.
• Screw driver 100mm, 150mm -1No. each. Equipments/Machines
• D.E. spanner set 5 – 30mm -1 No.
• Electrician knife 75mm -1 No. • Alternator 5 KVA Alternator -1 No.
• DC Shunt motor 7.5HP 230V -1 No.
Procedure
TASK 1: Identify the prime mover and alternator mounting requirements
1 Record the name plate details of Alternator and AC induction motor [Depending on the availability of machines
available at lab, instructor need to modify the details of prime mover]
