Glow plug indicator
A glow plug indicator on a digital panel board gauge is designed to show the status of glow plugs in a diesel
engine. When starting a diesel engine, especially in cold weather, glow plugs preheat the combustion chamber to
aid ignition. The indicator will typically illuminate when the glow plugs are active, helping the operator know when
it’s safe to start the engine. Once the engine is running, the indicator should turn off, indicating that the glow plugs
are no longer needed. The glow plug light, also known as the preheat light, is an indicator on a diesel engine that
tells the driver that the engine’s glow plugs are heating up. These plugs are used to heat the air in the combustion
chamber before the engine is started.
