           Assignment

            1  A steel rod used for brake operation is 1.50 m long. When it is subjected to a tensile force the extension
               produced is 0.5 mm. Find the strain in the rod.


                                       0.5    mm  
                                             
                                    =  1.5  x  1000   mm 
                                               Strain in the brake rod = 0.0003

            2  A helical spring is loaded with a force of 600 Newton and is compressed by 30mm. What would be the
               load required to compress it to 10 mm.
