DRESS MAKING - CITS
Problem 2: Pant is too loose
Solution: Pin excess fabric from the side seams and/or inseams. Include the waist band, if necessary. (Do not
pull the crease line off-center when pinning.) Mark and measure between pins and seam.
Pattern corrections: Subtract measured amount from front and back pant.
Problem 3: Pulling at crotch point (insufficient crotch extension)
Solution: Fitting under the crotch is difficult. Slash pant along crease line at the upper thigh area. Gently tug pant
leg to allow the slash to open. Measure the open space.
Pattern correction: Add half of the measured amount to each inseam. Blend to the knee.
Problem 4 : Crotch too high (stress folds directed to crotch point)
Solution: Unbutton waist band and unzip. Gently tug pant downward to a comfortable crotch level. Measure from
the waist to waist band.
Pattern correction: Lower the crotch point of the front and back to the measured amount. Blend to center line.
Problem 5: Crotch too low
Solution: Pin a fold at the center front to lift the pant to a comfortable level. Measure the pin fold.
Pattern correction: Raise the crotch point to the measured amount.
Problem 6: Back crotch droops (caused by flat buttocks)
Solution: Pin unneeded excess across the back. Measure this amount.
Pattern corrections: Slash to, but not through, the center back. Overlap the measured amount. Blend with the
center back.
