           Electrical safety

Electrical safety is a critical aspect of maintaining a safe working environment. Compliance with electrical codes
and regulations is essential to prevent electrical hazards. Regular inspection and maintenance of electrical systems
and equipment should be conducted to identify and rectify any potential risks. Proper grounding, insulation, and
protection measures must be implemented to safeguard workers from electrical accidents.
           First aid and medical facilities
Prompt access to first aid and medical facilities is crucial for the well-being of workers. Adequately stocked first
aid kits should be readily available, and designated personnel should be trained to provide immediate medical
assistance when needed. Additionally, arrangements should be made for workers to access medical facilities in
case of emergencies or when medical attention is required.
           Training and education

Comprehensive health and safety training is a cornerstone of ensuring a safe work environment in the garments
industry. Regular training programs should be provided to all employees, including new hires and contractors.
These programs should cover topics such as proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency
procedures, hazard identification, and reporting mechanisms.
           Safety signs
Safety signs are important in the workplace because they

           • Provide clear and concise instructions and warnings to employees and visitors
           • Help to ensure that all personnel are aware of potential hazards and how to avoid them
           • Play a crucial role in maintaining a safe work environment by alerting individuals to risks
           • Enforce specific actions or behaviours
           • Provide guidance on escape routes and emergency facilities

In essence, safety signs act as a visual reminder of the safety rules and regulations that must be adhered to in
the workplace to prevent accidents and injuries.
There are 5 health and safety signs, and they all mean different things. Through shape and colour combinations,
they can send their message through just a picture or icon.
1 Prohibition signs: Prohibitions signs are there to tell you not to do something. They are a danger sign, telling
you that it is not safe to proceed. Usually, these signs have a black image on a white and red background. For
prohibition signs, a red circle with a strike-through line indicates which action must be stopped.

2 Mandatory signs: Mandatory signs are there to tell you to do something. Consider these the opposite of
prohibition signs. These signs are round in shape. The pictogram is white on a blue background. The circle
usually has a white border. They are commonly seen at the entrance and tell employees that they must follow
a certain action, such as wearing the appropriate mask.
