           (e) Face to face in both directions / ‘zig-zag’ spreading:

           The spreading of’ Zig-zag’ may be used for different fabrics. It does not require cutting of the fabric plies and
           therefore saves time. The material can also be saved, as there is no need for security allowances at the end of a
           spread. This spreading mode cannot be used in the following situations:
           •  Where fabric rejection during spreading has to be performed;
           •  Where a style has asymmetric components;
           • Where a fabric has an asymmetric pattern and its type of position is strictly defined.

              Fabric Lay
              Fabric lay in the shape of fabric plies that are spread during fabric spreading in the readymade garments
              sector. There are different types of fabric lays which are vastly used in the cutting section of the clothing
              industry.
              Different Types of Lay Used in Fabric Spreading:
              In bulk cutting, a number of fabric plies are laid on the cutting table. The whole number of fabric plies that is
              spread on the table and cut at a time is called as lay
              A lay is a stack of fabric plies that have been prepared for cutting. Lay Planning is the basis of managing
              cutting room labor and table space.

              To get more efficiency and reduce production cost perfect lay plan selection is the big challenges for cutting
              section. Computer software can be used to do this plan easily.
              Importance of lay planning:

              • To get a clear managing process of cutting room.
              •  To reduce production cost.
              • To save the fabric wastage.
              • To finish the cutting process in schedule time.
