MECHANIC DIESEL - CITS
The inner walls of the oil cooler are in contact with the cooling rotor. The engine oil that is to be circulated through
the passage is directed to the oil cooler. The oil cooler transfers heat from the engine oil to the cooling water and
circulates the water between the engine block and Circulates through the internal walls. Thus it maintains the
temperature of the engine.
Study about oil filtering systems
Objectives: At the end of this lesson you shall be able to
• explain about oil filtering systems.
Oil filter: The oil filter helps remove contaminants like dirt, particles from engine’s oil.
Types of oil filters
Full flow oil filter system: In this system all the oil passes through the filter before reaching the main oil gallery.
One bypass valve is provided in the filter which allows oil to reach the main oil gallery directly if the filter is choked.
Bypass oil filter system: In this system only a part of the engine oil enters the filter. After filtering, the oil goes to
the oil sump. The remaining oil goes directly to the main oil gallery.
