           Inspection
Inspection can be defined as the activity to examine the products, its components, sub-assemblies, or materials
out of which it is made, and to determine whether they adhere to design specifications.

A CMM (coordinate measuring machine) inspection is where objects for products can be inspected for quality and
measured. A Coordinate Measuring Machine is used to measure the dimensions and characteristics of an object.
It can measure a single point in a 3D shape or the whole shape.

There are two types of inspection techniques
           1 Contact inspection
           2 non-contact inspection
           Contact inspection techniques

Physical contact occurs between the object to be inspected and the measurement device in contact inspections
this is typically done by means of a mechanical probe or other device that touches the item, which allows the
           inspection procedure to occur.

           Non-contact inspection techniques
Physical contact does not occurs between the object to be inspected and the measurement device in non con-
tact inspection, this is typically done by means of a laser probes and vision probes or other device that does not
touches the item, which allows the inspection procedure to occur. uses a sensor to measure or gauge the desired
           features of the object.

           Classroom Assignment (Fig 1)
Calculate the distance C of the dovetail of the roller is 20 mm, angle is 60o and the distance between the rollers
           is 2.68 mm

Cutting and threading of pipe length

Objectives : At the end of this exercise you shall be able to
           • mark and cut pipe to length using pipe cutter
           • mark and cut pipe to length using hacksaw.

           Job Sequence

           • Hold the G.I pipein pipe vice tightly.
           • Mark the required length as per drawing.
           • Fix the pipe in pipe vice and tighten it to prevent it from rotating.
           • Fix the pipe cutter on the G.I pipe.

           • Cut G.I pipe for the required length using pipe cutter.
           • Remove burrs using pipe reamer.
           • Check that the pipe ends with try square for squarness.
