For positions 1G and 2G (flat and horizontal) qualification on a plate shall also qualify the welder in pipes. For all
other positions, qualification on a pipe shall qualify for plate but not vice versa.
A qualification in a plate or pipe butt joint shall also qualify the welder for fillet welding in all plate thickness and
pipe diameters.
