5 Key elements of garment quality control:
Garment quality control involves a series of processes that ensure that a garment meets certain quality standards
before it is shipped to customers. Here are some key elements of garment quality control:
1 Fabric inspection: The fabric used for making the garment must be inspected for any defects or flaws.
This includes checking the color, print, weight, and texture of the fabric.
2 Pattern inspection: The pattern used for making the garment should be inspected to ensure that it is
accurate and matches the customer’s specifications.
3 Cutting inspection: The cut fabric pieces should be inspected for any defects or irregularities. This includes
checking the fabric pieces’ size, shape, and alignment.
4 Sewing inspection: The sewing process should be closely monitored to ensure that the garment is stitched
together correctly. This includes checking the seams, stitches, and overall construction of the garment.
5 Finishing inspection: The finishing process involves adding buttons, zippers, and other accessories to
the garment. This step should also be inspected to ensure that the accessories are properly attached and
functional.
6 Final inspection: Once the garment is completed, a final inspection should be carried out to ensure that
the garment meets the desired quality standards. This includes checking the size, fit, color, and overall
appearance of the garment.
7 Packaging and labeling: The garment should be appropriately packaged and labeled for shipping. This
includes ensuring that the correct size and style of the garment are included and that the labeling is accurate
and clear.
By implementing these key elements of garment quality control, manufacturers can ensure that their products
meet the desired quality standards and satisfy their customers.
6 Benefits of Quality Control In Garment Industry:
There are many benefits to having a set of quality standards in garment industry. Below are just a few examples
of the key advantages:
• Ensure the products meet the minimum acceptable level of quality for their garments.
• Ensuring garments will be of good quality and last for a long time.
• Protecting consumers from poor products.
• Reduce material waste and defect rates.
• Improve the operational efficiency.
• Avoid expensive lawsuits and other penalties.
• Higher customer satisfaction.
7 Importance of Quality Assurance System
The quality assurance is the planned or systematic actions necessary to provide adequate confidence that a
product or service will satisfy given requirements for quality”.
Basically quality assurance is a trouble shooter it arrests and rectifies the problem in the beginning only. In case
of quality control the problem may be allowed to happen and then it is corrected, whereas with quality assurance
is enough precautions are taken that the problem is arrested in the beginning and care is taken to find the very
root cause of the problem.
8 Common Quality Assurance Techniques
• End-to-end management: It is necessary to manage quality assurance objectives throughout the supply
chain, from assessment to distribution. With Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, quality
assurance teams can track all systems and subsystems in the production cycle for flaws or defects.
This ensures that the finished products are uniform, of premium quality, and safe for the consumers.
