1 Imperfection: sewing thread should be free of knot or any such defect otherwise there will be excessive
stoppage on the sewing machine resulting in lower sewn efficiency.
2 Finishing: thread finishing is basically lubricant applied to sewing thread so that the thread will slip easily
and smoothly through the eye of sewing machine needle and through various thread handling parts of
sewing machine.
3 Colour: colour of sewing thread including white should match that of either original or standard sample and
should not vary too much. A sewing thread’s colour should not bleed in washing or dry cleaning or fade in
sunlight.
4 Winding: winding of sewing thread on packages should be uniform otherwise it may result in excessive
thread breakage again causing lower efficiency.
2.1.4. Zipper Inspection:
A zipper, zip, or zip fastener, is a commonly used device for
temporarily joining two edges of fabric.
Zipper should be check for following factors: -
• Proper dimension of zipper
• Top and bottom stops should be fastened securely.
• Zipper tape should uniform in colour if it is important.
• Zipper should not cause wrinkling or puckering after it is sewn
into the garment.
• Zipper colour should not bleed in washing and dry cleaning.
• Pull tape should be affixed firmly to the slider body.
2.1.5. Buttons Inspection :
Buttons should be check for following factors:
• Button should have large cleaning holes that are free from flesh
and will not cut the thread.
• Holes must be located properly in relation to the edge of button.
3. Button should be of uniform thickness.
• The colour of button should be match or in tolerance of visual
limits.
• Button should be able to withstand laundering, dry cleaning and
pressing without any changes such as cracks, melting surfaces,
change in colour etc.
2.1.6. Buckles Inspection :
Buckles should be check for following factors:
• Buckles should be check for any visual defects such as sharps,
unfinished buckle edge.
• If a buckle is cloth covered there should not be an appreciable
difference in the buckle and garment material.
