            Objectives

At the end of this lesson you shall be able to
           • Understand the importance and process of Work Study
           • Deals with Work measurement & time study techniques for better working condition
           • Calculate Sewing Line Efficiency and know the formulas of Work study.

           1 Work Study
The Department of Work Studies in apparel manufacturing industries, plays an extremely significant role. The
efficiency of production relies on this department. Work-study aims at maximizing manufacturing with the least
utilization of time and cost in the industrial engineering department. In order to enhance the efficient use of
resources, this Department is based on the systematic review of techniques of carrying out operations.
1.1 Objectives of work-study in the garments industry:
              • Scientific and monitored analysis of current techniques for carrying out a job.
              • Simplify the job.
              • Measure mental and physically skilled workers and define performance measurements as a standard.
              • Improve job effectiveness at all levels.
              • Workers, plants, equipment, and other resources are optimally used at a minimum price.
              • Profitability.
              • Improved productivity and improved mood for workers.
              • Enhanced organizational effectiveness.
              • Maintain the right goal.
