6.2 Guideline 2 - Cutout Armholes
The excess (gapping) is eliminated from the armhole for a secure fit.
Form:
• Place the end of the ruler at the bust point and in the direction of the shoulder tip.
• The other ruler measures the depth at the level of the pin mark. Add 1/4 inch to the measurement to offset bias
stretch.
Pattern:
• Draw guideline 2 from the bust point to the shoulder tip.
• Mark measurement out from the circumference line and connect to the shoulder tip and bust point. (Standard
Measurement = ½ inch)
6.3 Guideline 3 - Armhole Ease
The armhole ease is eliminated for strapless garments and cutout armholes.
Pattern:
• Draw guideline 3 from the curve of the armhole to the bust point.
• Mark 1/4 inch (standard) and draw a line to the bust point.
(Include with cutout armhole designs.
