6 Preparing the Contour Guide Patterns
Measurement Needed: (9) Bust radius_________
Trace the front and back patterns, including all markings.
Place compass at bust point and draw a circle using the bust radius measurement.
The circle represents the hollow area between the figure and the basic garment.

Punch a hole (with the awl) for pencil insertion when transferring the circle to a traced pattern.

6.1. Guideline1- Cutout Necklines
Eliminates excess (gapping) from the neckline.
Form:
• Place the end of the ruler at mid-neck and in the direction of the bust point.
• The other ruler measures the depth at the pin mark.
Pattern:
• Draw guideline 1 from bust point to mid-neck.
• Mark measurement out from circumference line and connect to neck and bust point. (Standard Measurement
= ¼ Inch)
