ENGINEERING DRAWING - CITS
Exercise 8.42
Draw the assembly of taper keys as per standard (IS:2292) to suit shaft dia 100 mm. (Fig 7)
Shaft dia d = 100 mm
Breadth (width) = 25 mm h9
Limitation width (limits) = 0;-0.062
Height (thickness) h = 16 mm
Limits on thickness 030.130
Fig 7
Exercise 8.43
Draw an assembly of shaft and hub connected with a gib head key. Assume shaft dia d = 100 mm. (Fig 8)
d = 100 mm; as per formula
Width of key b = 0.25d + 2 mm
100 x 0.25 + 2 = 25 + 2 = 27 mm
Thickness (nominal) h = 0.66b or 2/3 b = 27 x 0.66 = 18 mm
Length of key = 150 or 120 mm min. (say 1.5d)
Difference in thickness = 150 x 1/100 = 1.5 mm
Gib height = 1.75 h = 18 x 7/4 = 31.5 say 32 mm
Width of gib = 1.5h = 27 mm
