1 Merchandising department: The merchandising process comprises guiding and supervising for the
successful processing of an order. It is a vital process that involves planning, developing, executing and
dispatching the order (product) to the buyer. Basically two types of merchandising done in garment units are
              marketing merchandising and product merchandising.
The main objective of marketing merchandising is development of product, costing and ordering, and it has direct
           contact with the buyer.

Product merchandising is carried out in the respective apparel unit and involves all the responsibilities starting
           from sourcing to finishing.
2 Sampling department: In any garment industry the first stage for garment production is sampling. The
sampling department coordinates with the merchandising and production department. From sampling, we
get information related to cost, timing, labor and production of garment production. The main objective of
the sampling is to eliminate the risk of making a wrong purchase of raw material, making mistake in bulk
manufacturing that is not accepted by the buyer.
3 Fabric sourcing & purchasing department: Fabric sourcing is mainly engaged in deciding where and how
the fabrics have to be procured. The main difference between the sourcing and purchasing department is that
the sourcing section works for sourcing the fabrics alone whereas the nature of the work of the purchasing
department comprises sourcing of accessories and trims as well.
4 Fabric inspection department: The main aims of fabric inspection team are
               • Identification and analysis of fabric defects using various standard methods.
               • Selection of fabric according to AQL (accepted quality level).

5 Accessory stores department: The main responsibility of this department is to store all the raw material
necessary to produce garments. It is centralized in apparel industry and all the fabric and accessories comes
to this unit first from the supplier and audited here and kept until it is distributed to other units. The receipt of
