EXERCISE 10.1 : Checking of charging circuit and
alternator output on vehicle
Objectives
At the end of this exercise you shall be able to
• check Charging circuit continuity
• remove the alternator
• check Alternator Output voltage
• check circuit voltage-Drop
• check charging Circuit Relay
• do trouble shooting charging system.

• AC alternator slip ring puller - 1 No. • Kerosene - as reqd.
• Executive auto electrical toolkit - 1 No. • Diesel - as reqd.
• Electrical test bench - 1 No. • Electrical wires - as reqd.
• Pulley set universal for • Engine Oil - as reqd.

Procedure
TASK 1: Locate alternator circuit and check continuity
1 Locate the circuit from the alternator’s (1) output terminal (5) to the voltage regulators (2) terminal A (3)
and check the continuity
