DRESS MAKING - CITS

           1 Paper Marker
           2 Fabric Marker.

           3.1 Paper Marker.
If a marker is prepared by using paper, then it is called as “Paper marker”. This is mainly suitable for Plain fabrics.
For this a long roll of paper should be used which should have the required fabric width and length depending
upon the lay length. Long carbon sheet rolls can also be used for duplicating the marker. One paper and one
Carbon are alternatively placed one above the other and the Patterns are placed over, and after achieving the
minimum lay length, the outlines of the pattern
are marked by using ordinary Ball point pen for
getting best impression for duplicating. For this
method, we can easily make 4 to 5 markers
           simultaneously. By this marker duplicating,
we are saving the maximum precious time of
Industry. Then the paper marker is placed over
the top of the fabric lay, and fabric lay is being
cut along with the paper marker.
           Advantages:
1 We can quickly prepare the maximum no. of
markers in a single process. By this, we can
              save the precious time.
2 We can preserve the markers for our future
              reference.
           Disadvantage:

It is suitable for plain fabric only.
           3.2 Fabric Marker:
A marker is prepared in the actual fabric to be used for cutting, it is known as “Fabric Marker”. For striped, checked
and printed fabrics, it is not possible to prepare a paper marker due to the requirement of lines and design
matching. Hence, for the above-mentioned fabrics, we have to prepare fabric marker.
           Advantages
1 By this marker, we can follow the line and
              design matching.
2 It is used for emergency cutting process.
           Disadvantages
1 We can’t duplicate the marker as like in paper
              marker.
2 It consumes the actual time, as like in the
normal process, i.e., there is no time saving
              by this marker.

3 We can’t preserve the marker for future
              reference.
4 We have to place the fabric marker on the top of the lay by following proper line matching in the case of striped
and checked fabric. Otherwise, the entire cutting process will be wasted out.

4 Points to be considered while preparing Markers.
The following important points to be kept in mind while preparing markers.
1 Before marking, we have to make different pattern layouts and out of them we have to select the best one,
which gives the minimum fabric consumption or lay length.

2 In the case of fabric marker, the used fabric should be pressed neatly and free from wrinkles.
